A Letter from Gil & Mary
Thanks for taking a moment to learn about us. Throughout 10 years of marriage, we have been encouraging one another in our intellectual and creative interests and feathering our nest for a family. After experiencing pregnancy difficulties, our hearts turned to adoption and the many lives we know it has touched. Gil himself and Mary’s sister were both adopted, and we realized adoption was meant for us. We know that the patience, joy, and stability of our journey together will help us provide for your child and teach them how to be a confident and resilient adult. If you choose to make an adoption plan with us, your child will be loved unconditionally, treasured endlessly, and will always know their adoption was an act of love that began with their birth mother.
We met at a friend’s Christmas party, singing carols around the piano. Both creative spirits, we fell in love brainstorming a plot for a screenplay. We treasure the time we spend together, whether it’s traveling, taking daily walks, playing tennis, cooking, gardening, or dancing in our pajamas. We strive to take care of ourselves — mind, body, and soul.
We look forward to welcoming your child into our world of creativity, making arts and crafts together, and teaching something new at every turn. We value education, travel, and healthy food. We understand how important it is to have opportunities, so we promise to give your child every opportunity to explore and grow into their unique self.
Gil is a natural teacher who inspires confidence and independence and brings out the best in people. His abundant energy and infectious enthusiasm turn otherwise dull moments into spontaneous and fun lessons for everyone around him. His eyes light up with laughter when he cooks up a story or plans a weekend adventure. Gil loves history, archaeology, writing, and exploring nature. He most looks forward to taking your child on nature expeditions through our city’s many parks and around the globe. Gil is the type of person who can be counted on for advice and a helping hand, and I know he will be a wonderful father.
Curious and empathic, Mary seeks to understand each perspective and discover the best way to meet everyone’s needs. She enjoys cooking and baking from scratch, centering herself with meditation and yoga, and learning ukulele via YouTube. When faced with tough questions, she dives into books and emerges with a treasure trove of information.
Mary relaxes with crochet and knitting, and I am proud to wear the sweater she designed! I know that she will be an amazing mother with patience and a calming energy. She looks forward to reading bedtime stories and sharing her passion for reading with your child.
We love our home! The bedroom next to ours will make a cozy nursery full of the stuffed animals Mary makes. Our safe and friendly, tree-lined neighborhood is in a small city ranked among the best places to live and raise a family. We are surrounded by many parks and lakes, culture and arts, and year-round children’s events. On Saturdays, we walk or bike to the library past 3 nearby parks with playgrounds and plenty of green space for kids to run and play. During Wisconsin winters, we build snowmen or snuggle on the sofa watching the snowfall beyond the French doors in the warmth and glow of the fireplace. We look forward to sharing these moments and more with your child.
Your child will have an enormous support system that includes other adoptees, including Gil himself and Mary’s older sister. We both come from large, supportive families who are thrilled for us to grow our family through adoption. Our close friends feel like family too — a few have also adopted children who look forward to playdates. Sharing traditions is important to our family. We celebrate holidays and host parties with our loved ones, deck the halls with homemade decorations, make birthdays extra special, and travel somewhere new each year. We are excited to make new traditions with your child as they grow.
We promise to speak of you with love and gratitude and to honor your level of comfort if you choose to keep in touch.
We promise to raise your child to be confident in their identity and in their birth story that began with your act of love.
We promise loving arms always ready to embrace your child and guide them toward all the wonders life has to offer.
We promise a safe, nurturing home for your child as they boldly explore life and their unique potential.
We promise to balance freedom with wisdom, and model skills for a harmonious and healthy life.
We promise to cultivate curiosity and creativity, seek a quality education, and give your child the opportunity to go to college.
We promise to pave your child’s road toward a wonderful future with every opportunity to thrive and enjoy the fruits of life.

More About Our Family
We live in the state of...
Wisconsin is known for its cheese, cranberries, apple orchards, Green Bay Packers, and Bucky Badger. Most people don’t know that the ice cream sundae was invented here.
Our home is surrounded by trees, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. We like to open the windows and listen to the birds. Our neighborhood is full of families with young children and plenty of green spaces with bunnies and chipmunks. We are fortunate to live in a small city ranked among the best places to live and raise a family. We are surrounded by many parks and lakes, culture and arts, and child-friendly events all year round. We live just minutes from some of the best healthcare and schools in the nation.
We love exploring the archaeology, architecture, and art of other places and cultures, close to home and across oceans. We look forward to seeing the world through a child’s eyes. We are excited to create meaningful experiences with your child!
Holidays and Traditions
We love celebrating holidays, whether with friends and family or just us. We create handmade gifts, valentines, and ornaments throughout the year. Mary roasts the Thanksgiving turkey and tweaks her mother’s stuffing recipe. Extended family brings pies, salad, and hugs. At Christmas, we buy gifts for needy families on an angel tree and give back to those dear to us.
Education and Career
Mary studied creative writing and psychology in college. She later earned a degree in biotechnology. Blending her love of science and the arts, she has made a career in research administration. Mary enjoys helping doctors discover new knowledge and turn their ideas into reality. She also volunteers with her colleagues. Gil majored in Business and English and went to grad school for Clinical Social Work. He works as a licensed psychotherapist at a primary care clinic alongside family medicine doctors. His patients and colleagues affectionately call him the "Brain Doc." He treats patients with mental health and addiction challenges. Our careers afford us all our family may want or need. We have great benefits and have already begun a college fund.
We champion harmony, health, positivity, and making a difference in the world. From wholesome nutrition to spiritual and philosophical conversation, we watch what we take inside ourselves. Mary experiments with healthy recipes, turning our kitchen into a wonderland of spices and edible goodness. We look forward to teaching your child how to grow veggies in our garden, transform them into a yummy meal, and enjoy the good life.
